Filter Created Fairy Wings

We're going to use Eye Candy 4000 and the Deform Filters in Paint Shop Pro 9 to create fairy wings. There are a few steps but the tutorial is very easy to do.
This tutorial assumes that you are fairly competent with Paint Shop Pro 9 and Eye Candy 4000.
Make use of your Undo Tool and History to correct any mistakes and save often.
First we will create the wings in Eye Candy. Open a New Image 700 x 400 with transparent background. Choose "Chemical Flame" under Settings. I've used the default settings but you can play around with different flames as well as play with the flame settings and colors.

(Ex. 1: Eye Candy Settings)
Next apply Paint Shop Pro's Geometric Circle Filter (Effects, Geometric Effects, Circle) and make sure that under Edge Mode, Transparent is marked.

Now we need to rotate the wings. Control R will open the Free Rotate Box or from the Menu Bar, click on Image, Rotate, Free Rotate.
Direction: Left
Degrees: 90°
All Layers and Rotate single layer around canvas center are left Unchecked.
To give you room to play with the wing piece, you need to resize the layer 70%.
Make sure that "Resize all layers" is left unchecked.

(Ex. 4: Fairy Wings Shape & Size)
To shape the wings we'll distort them a bit more. Click on Effects, Distort, Twirl from the Menu Bar and distort the wings by -80°.

Duplicate the layer and Mirror and move into place. Merge the two layers together and then apply the Sharpen or Unsharp Mask Tool.

Customizing Your Wings
You're finished! Experiment with the different Flame Settings (and color settings) in Eye Candy to create different types of wings and don't forget to use Paint Shop Pro 9's Hue and Saturation Color Settings to further customize your wings. You may also want to create your own custom brushes from the finished wings.
